I almost stepped on a copperhead once I remember I walked over to my mom and I was like oh I almost stepped on a copperhead she had a panic attack she hates snakes but I love snakes I believe that they're usually misunderstood because if your about to die aren't you going to defend yourself

We have many here in North Ga, I’ve heard the baby copperhead is more dangerous because it doesn’t know how much venom is enough and fills you up. Any validity to this?

Why would you go through all that to find a rattlesnake in WV? I can take you to two dens that are a five minute walk from a road you can drive a Corvette on no problem. And if it's a copperhead you're looking for we can just walk out around the barn or down along the creek at my house.

Tired of folks crying about coyote getting his idea stolen by kings of pain..did they technically steal it yes. However it wasnt his idea to begin with..to be accurate he stole the idea from Schmidt who originally created the sting pain index in the 80s. So karma maybe..keep crying while coyote isnt. Some fan base.

A copperhead isn't deadly unless you go looking for them. Over 90% of them time, people who get bit by a rattlesnake are drunk and decide to start messing with it. People who invest in snake boots and carry a pistol loaded with snake shot are wasting their money. Rattlesnakes are not aggressive toward people, far from it. Carrying a pistol is a good idea out there but rattlesnakes are not your problem.

South Carolina is flooded with these, they like to hide in the pine needles. I remember when i was younger you were almost guaranteed to step on one if you decided to walk through the undesturbed pines. Ive killed several, actually met a kid down their that was bitten by one aswell it missed him up mentally think he lost some toes aswell if im not mistaken. Nothing gets your adrenaline flowing like walking through the woods then realizing your 2 feet away from a pit viper camo'ed out in the leaves. I used to just freeze an very slowly grab a stick to wack it with. Usually took a gun with me though. Live up north now though an can honestly say i havent seen the first venomous snake the entire 7 yrs ive been up here. They do have some bigass rat snakes around here though! You need to go down south an find a coach whip, i got to see one of those aswell as a glass snake. All kinds down their

I'm sure being bitten by a copperhead would be no fun, I'm told by those in the know that 95% of those bitten would survive without permanent problem with no treatment at all. I worked in an ED for years, saw multiple copperhead bite victims, and none I saw were anywhere close to dying. Rattlesnakes are a whole different story. Closest I saw to death was a man who was highly allergic to venom, as well as the toxicity of the venom. We saw dry bites as well. This is when a snake bites as a warning instead of injecting venom. This is thought to be a warning shot by the snake to "Don't Tread on Me". Venomous snakes only produce and carry a limited amount of venom. It makes sense would try to conserve venom it needs to kill and eat and not waste it on something far too big to consume. However, if actually stepped on, it likely wouldn't hesitate to unload.

The best way to avoid an encounter is to be noisy. Most predators will hear you coming and leave (as the timbers would have if they had picked a good spot).

Guy doesn't know his wilderness. If a large predator frequents the place, a smaller predator will find another spot.
